Yeronga Institute of TAFE Sports Hall – Australia
The facility is designed for use by Yeronga Tafe as part of its teaching program, as well as providing itself, the adjoining High School and the community in general, including disabled organizations with sports and training facilities. It comprises a multi-purpose sports hall. climbing wall. classrooms, exercise room, physical assessment area, and associated change and storage facilities. It also includes a unique run- through athletics testing track. Through the use of angled lines, planes and the stepping massing of forms which reflect the activities inside, the building embodies the spirit of movement and activity. Colour and light are used as positive design elements to highlight key areas and to provide and inviting venue, particularly for after- hours usage. The building’s transparency and accessibility are enhanced by the location and arrangement of openings and links between the inside and outside.
