Ljubljana Stadium and Arena – Slovenia
This site includes three new ultra soft, all season artificial surface playing field (two of which are a 16,000 capacity football stadium and 15,000 capacity basketball and handball arena)that are lit for 24 hour use . The fields are used for soccer, grass hockey, football, ultimate and field lacrosse. The field are served by a new field house, snack bar and meeting rooms overlooking the fields. Built on a former quarry site, the two venues are set into the ground and form part of a wider master plan which includes a major retail development and landscaped roof sports park. The stadium opened in August 2010, with Slovenia playing Australia in an international friendly.
