Paul Chrismas – Director of Australia
Paul Chrismas is the Director of James Cubitt Architects (JCA), Brisbane Australia. Paul become Director of the practice in 2006 following the passing of Rod Chrismas who established the office in 1986 following his previous 16 years working with JCP in Lagos, Nigeria.
His role as Project Director allows Paul to play an active role in key projects providing a design, quality and contractual oversight. Paul has developed a particular strength in the consultation process where his ability to communicate and interpret ideas greatly assists in providing the necessary clarity of vision that forms the basis for JCA’s architectural and aesthetic philosophy. This focus seeks to encourage sustainable, innovative and creative architecture respectful of its place and context.
Paul’s experience spans projects both nationally, within Australia and internationally, his understanding of the importance of site, place and culture enable designs to be conceived specifically for their unique location. This has seen JCA deliver projects in countries including, Belgium, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, East Timor, Papua New Guinea, The Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Tonga.
Paul has completed a number of award winning projects and high profile buildings. The diversity of this experience has enabled Paul to lead design teams completing major foreign embassy buildings for the Australian Government, Libraries, university facilities and schools. Paul has worked with the highest levels of the Australian government and successfully delivered culturally unique projects that have remained the cornerstone of Paul’s approach. As a creative and dedicated architect Paul continues to push JCA to seek bigger and bolder opportunities.
